Heavy Duty Trailer Hitches

Class IV

Class IV hitches is very similar to Class III hitches except for the weight ratings.
- These are weight carrying (WC) and weight distributing (WD) hitches depending on the vehicle and hitch specifications. Not all Class IV hitches are rated to be both
- Weight carrying hitches are rated up to 12,000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 1200 lbs.
- Weight distributing hitches are rated up to 15,000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 1500 lbs.
- Use a ball mount and hitch ball of the same rating or higher
- A weight distribution system is required (to use weight distribution side of the hitch)
- Class IV hitches attach to the vehicle frame only.
Class V

Class V hitches is very similar to Class III & IV hitches except for the weight ratings and that the hitch uses a 2-1/2" receiver.
- Class V hitches are weight carrying (WC) and weight distributing (WD) hitches.
- Weight carrying hitches are rated up to 13,000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 1300 lbs.
- Weight distributing hitches are rated up to 17,000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 1700 lbs.
- Use a ball mount and hitch ball of the same rating or higher
- A weight distribution system is required (to use the weight distribution side of the hitch)
- Class V hitches attach to the vehicle frame only.
Fifth Wheel Hitch

Fifth wheel hitches are designed for carrying much heavier loads than the typical ball hitch can handle.
- Added to the bed of the pickup truck)
- Shape similar to a horseshoe. The metal rails that run beneath the hitch attach to the frame of the pickup
- The trailer connects to the fifth wheel hitch via a downward-facing king pin
- The king pin locks into position so it is secure within the hitch but can pivot to accommodate turns

- Weight Carrying: 4000 lbs.(TW/GTW)
- Weight Distributing: 16,000 lbs.(TW/GTW)
- Hitch Weight: 106 lbs.
Gooseneck
A gooseneck hitch is a type of class V hitch that can handle up to 30,000 pounds.
- Gooseneck hitches are anchored through the bed of a pickup truck.
- Gooseneck hitches use a hitch ball to lock into place
- Popular because the types of trailers they pull are able to make tighter turns
- Head tested to 30,000 lbs. GTW, 7,500 lbs. vertical load
- Only 3-1/2" hole in truck bed for installation
- Ball is stored upside-down in hitch when not used
- Heavy duty handle uses positive locking to engage ball
- Easy to install
- Includes magnetic cover
- Rail kits average install time is less than 2-1/2 hours without any welding or bed removal
- Rails are rated to meet non-commercial tow ratings
